Section A: Learning outcome of the assessment
LO1 The capacity to contribute to the effective development, implementation, review, improvement and manipulation of appropriate HRM and people management methods and policies in specific organisational contexts;
LO 2. Knowledge and understanding of the relations between business strategy, structure and culture and the management of people, and their particular implications for HR managing the organisational need for talent and the ways in which HR may contribute to organisational performance;
LO 3.An understanding of the importance of a systematic approach to people management, the role, benefits and drawbacks of HR Planning and the integration between this and other HR policies, notably recruitment, selection, performance management, retention and release with a view to building long term organisational performance;
LO 4.The ability to critically analyse and evaluate the formulation and implementation of processes of learning and talent development strategies for defining and achieving current and future effectiveness at national, organisational, group and individual levels;
Section B: Introduction
The module has one summative component with two tasks. The students need to work in a group and work on a group presentation and group report on the same topic.
The assessment includes following two tasks:
Task 001: 50% Group Presentation- Development of HR plan
Task 002: 50% Group Report- Development of HR plan
Section C: Assessment Strategy
Students need to form the group of 3 to work to develop the HR plan of the organisation mentioned below:

The group needs to be formed by week 03 and communicated with the module lecturer. This group will continue working together throughout the semester to work on the assessment (group presentation and group report)
There are two tasks to be completed for this assessment. Both tasks require you to access the secondary data for the work.
Task 001
50% Group Presentation- Development of HR Plan
- Prepare a 15-minutes group presentation on Development of HR Plan followed by Q&A session.
- This presentation will be evaluated based on the group performance as well as individual performance.
After finalising the organisation, the group needs to develop the presentation covering the following aspect of the HR plan.
- Company profile and reason for choosing the company
- Analysis of Organisational Plans and Objectives
- Analysis of Human Resources Inventory
- Assessing Future Supply and Demand
- Matching Supply and Demand
- Establishing an Action Plan using the two HR theories or concepts learned in the module
A few of recommended theories that can be used for the work, but not limited to:
- Employee recruitment & onboarding
- Payroll, tax & benefits administrations
- Handle discipline and termination
- Conduct ongoing employee training and development
- Succession Planning
- Support engagement, health and wellness programs and other relevant HR concepts
Task 002
50% Group Report- Development of HR Plan
- After getting the feedback from the presentation, the group needs to continue working to develop the group report on the same topic.
- The group needs to prepare a report covering the development of the HR Plan of the organisation that was selected in task 01.
- The word count of this report is 2000 words ( report 1550 words and personal reflection of each member count of 150 words). Each member needs to submit a personal reflection essay, with 150 words. The personal reflection essay will be counted as individual performance.
As you have identified the two theories from HR for Task 001, you need to also add the concept of performance management for Task 002.
The report should cover the following
- Company profile and reason for choosing the company
- Analysis of Organisational Plans and Objectives
- Analysis of Human Resources Inventory
- Assessing Future Supply and Demand
- Matching Supply and Demand
- Establishing an Action Plan using the THREE HR theories or concepts learned in the module(Including performance management)
- Self-Reflection (Each group members 150 words) about the module.
A few of recommended theories that can be used for the work, but not limited to:
- Performance management (Mandatory)
- Employee recruitment & onboarding
- Payroll, tax & benefits administrations
- Handle discipline and termination
- Conduct ongoing employee training and development
- Succession Planning
- Support engagement, health and wellness programs and other relevant HR concepts
All the group members will be given the same mark for the report except the self-reflection.
Section D: Assessment submission
Use the correct cover page and name convention to submit the file to MST.
Make sure you clearly write the group name when submitting the files. See the cover page of this assessment for the sample.
Task 001: 50% Group Presentation
On behalf of the group, one member must submit the final slide and the group declaration to RTE to participate in the group presentation. The date of the presentation will be provided by the module lecturers 48 hours before the planned date.
Each presentation should last exactly 15 minutes. The presentation will be followed by the Q&A session.
Task 002: 50% Group Report
On behalf of the group, one member must submit the final report and the group declaration to RTE.
Word count for the report (Total 2000 words)
- HR Plan – 1550 +/- 10% words
- Self-Reflection for each member- 150 words
All reflection essays of the group members should be compiled together in the same report rather than submitting them individually.
