Section B: Introduction

In your first assessment, you presented posters advising industrialists at a Chamber of Commerce on current issues and prospects of entering one of the world’s emerging markets. You must now produce an individual report (2,500 words) advising managers seeking to work in an emerging market on management practice in an international and cross-cultural context. (Worth 50% of the assessment)

The objective is for each of you to produce an individual report advising managers seeking to work in an emerging market different from the one researched in groups. Advice will focus on management issues and practices in diverse cultural contexts. Successful reports will demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to cultural and ethical issues, beyond the technical and analytical business competencies.

Section C: Assessment Strategy

This is an individual assessment in which you will have to produce a 2500-word report. This report should emphasise persuading global managers to work in the emerging market and the industry that you choose.

Task details:

You must produce an individual report (2,500 words) advising managers seeking to work in an emerging market on management practice in an international and cross-cultural context.

Starting point: 

Decide which emerging market you will choose to construct your report – the country or market must be different from the one chosen for producing the poster. (You cannot research the same country you have chosen for the Poster Presentation). 

  • Individual students generally go through preliminary research work to finalise on their choice of an emerging market. You will have to ensure that you choose an emerging market that is different from the one used in the poster presentation in the first assessment.
  • Another important aspect of this report is the choice of industry. You may choose a new industry or industry from your first assessment.

Preparation of the individual report: 

After an emerging market and industry are finalised you can start working towards the development of the report.

You will research one emerging market and analyse the key characteristics of the business environment and prevailing conditions. You will be expected to apply concepts and analytical tools to discuss management practice in an international and cross-cultural context and present the results of your investigation in the form of a persuasive business report.

Section D: Assessment submission

You must submit your assessment (report) file to the RTE before the due date. You must also follow the guideline given by the RTE for the file format and name convention when submitting.
