Scenario

You have been working as an assistant F&B Manager at a reputed five-star hotel in Pokhara, Hotel Pokhara Grande. There is a probable chance that you are promoted to the F & B Manager for the Restaurants. Within the Hotel there are two restaurants, one bar and one banquet. Being the manager, you are supposed to take charge of all the outlets in your department. One of the key responsibilities is to support HR to recruit new staff as required.

To claim this position, you need to demonstrate a range of knowledge and skills relevant to the position such as carrying out self-assessments, design a professional development plan, and demonstrate the ability to apply different learning methods and develop approaches within the given work environment.

Thus, your HR Manager has asked you to prepare the following documents as guided and submit to them within the given deadline:

Based on the scenario you will need to:

Part one:

  • With reference to the context provided in the scenario, prepare a detailed comprehensive plan to enhance chosen skill and competencies. Apply underpinning learning and development theory as appropriate. Set out clear and achievable targets, strategies and outcomes of learning and training within the work context.

Part Two:

  • Prepare a document which confirms you have undertaken a job interview for a suitable service role. With reference to the job interview you have undertaken, write a review which identifies the key strengths and weaknesses of the interview process, evaluates the obstacles and challenges to overcome and critically reflect the interview process and your abilities during this process.
